Alpine Township Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Taken from official News Release issued by Undersheriff John Hess.
On October 31, 2011, the Kent County Sheriff Department responded to an armed robbery at 3730 Alpine Avenue NW (Advance America).  Witnesses described the vehicle as a black Grand Prix with a Texas license plate and followed the vehicle into York Creek Apartments.  Investigators located the vehicle inside a garage and executed a search warrant on the vehicle, garage, and apartment.  Evidence was found in connection to the Advance America robbery and is currently being processed.  Investigators detained five individuals located at the York Creek address and lodged one adult male for armed robbery.  The arraignment will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011, in the 63rd District Court.  This investigation is ongoing and being compared to the other armed robberies that have occurred along Alpine Avenue during the past three weeks.

The Sheriff's Department is working with Grand Rapids Police and Walker Police on the robberies they are investigating that appear to be similar.  If information or evidence obtained during search warrants is connected to other armed robbery cases, an updated news release will be sent out.
